Author Guidelines

Journal of Education and Learning Sciences (JELS)

The Journal of Education and Learning Sciences (JELS) is a peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal dedicated to publishing high-quality research in the field of education and learning sciences. Authors are required to follow these guidelines to ensure clarity, consistency, and scholarly integrity in their submissions.

  1. Language and Formatting
  • Manuscripts may be written in English or Bahasa Indonesia, using formal academic language.
  • All submissions must follow the official JELS article template, downloadable from the journal website.
  • Use Calibri font, size 12 pt, with 1.15 line spacing and standard A4 paper size (21 x 29.7 cm), with 2.5 cm (1 inch) margins on all sides.
  • Article length must be between 10 to 20 pages, including abstract, references, tables, figures, and any appendices.
  • Foreign, regional, or non-translated terms should be written in italics.
  • Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.doc/.docx).
  1. Structure of the Manuscript

Research-based and theoretical articles should generally follow this structure:

  1. Title
    • Clear, specific, and no more than 15 words.
  2. Author Information
    • Full name(s), institutional affiliation(s), and email address(es).
  3. Abstract
    • Maximum 200 words, written in both English and Bahasa Indonesia (for Indonesian authors).
    • Includes purpose, method, results, and conclusion.
    • Followed by 3–5 keywords.
  4. Introduction
    • States background, gap in literature, objectives, and significance of the study.
  5. Method
    • Describes research design, participants/data sources, instruments, procedures, and data analysis techniques.
  6. Results and Discussion
    • Presents findings supported by data (tables/figures if needed) and a detailed discussion linked to theory and prior research.
  7. Conclusion
    • Summarizes findings, implications, and suggestions for future research.
  8. References
    • Use APA (American Psychological Association) 7th edition citation style.
    • At least 80% of references should be from reputable journal articles published within the last 10 years.
  1. Literature Review Note
  • A separate “Literature Review” section is not required.
  • Relevant literature should be integrated into the Introduction and Discussion sections.
  1. Additional Requirements
  • Manuscripts originating from student theses/dissertations must be accompanied by a supervisor’s approval sheet or examiner's review form, which may serve as an internal peer review.
  • Articles must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.
  • Similarity index must be below 25% (checked using Turnitin or equivalent).
  1. Submission and Review Process
  • All manuscripts are subject to a double-blind peer review.
  • Authors will receive feedback and may be asked to revise their manuscripts accordingly.
  • Final acceptance will be based on the quality of the revision and editorial evaluation.
