Aim and Scope
The International Journal of Islam and Sustainable Development (IJISD) is an interdisciplinary journal that explores Islamic ethics, anthropology, law, social thought, and institutions, engaging with contemporary global challenges, particularly those relevant to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The editors especially welcome articles with case studies, comparative, regional, and cross-regional perspectives that contribute to international scholarly audiences. Key areas include Islamic ethics and sustainability, maqasid al-shariah and development, environmental governance, Islamic social finance, education, social justice, and public policy. Articles requiring significant technical knowledge from our readers are considered more suited to a disciplinary journal and will not be accepted by IJISD. Submissions about topical issues can be treated with high priority and ‘overtake’ articles brought to our attention earlier. This is a fully open-access journal where all articles are freely available, ensuring maximum worldwide dissemination of content.
