Review Workflow

  1. Manuscript Submission

Authors submit manuscripts through the Online Journal System (OJS).

  1. Initial Editorial Screening (1–7 Days)

The Editor-in-Chief evaluates the manuscript regarding:

  • Journal scope and relevance
  • Manuscript format and template compliance
  • Publication ethics compliance
  • Similarity and plagiarism screening

Manuscripts that do not meet the journal requirements may be rejected at this stage.

  1. Assignment to Section Editor

Eligible manuscripts are assigned to a Section Editor or Handling Editor for further processing.

  1. Reviewer Assignment (Within 1 Week)

The editor assigns at least two independent reviewers who have expertise relevant to the manuscript topic.

  1. Double-Blind Peer Review (2–4 Weeks)

Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on:

  • Originality and novelty
  • Methodological rigor
  • Clarity and organization
  • Quality of analysis
  • Significance of findings
  • Scholarly contribution
  • Quality of references
  1. Editorial Evaluation

The editor evaluates reviewers' comments and recommendations.

  1. Editorial Decision

Based on the review results, one of the following decisions will be made:

  • Accept Submission
  • Minor Revision
  • Major Revision
  • Reject Submission
  1. Author Revision

Minor Revision

Authors are given up to 2 weeks to revise the manuscript.

Major Revision

Authors are given up to 4 weeks to revise the manuscript.

The revised manuscript must be accompanied by a response letter addressing reviewers' comments.

  1. Second Review (If Necessary)

Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation.

  1. Final Editorial Decision

The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision based on reviewers' recommendations and the quality of revisions.

  1. Copyediting and Layout Editing

Accepted manuscripts proceed to:

  • Copyediting
  • Language editing
  • Layout editing
  • Proofreading
  1. Author Proofreading

Authors review and approve the final proof before publication.

  1. Publication

The manuscript is published in the current issue of Marji' : Journal of Qur'an and Hadith Studies and becomes immediately available through Open Access.
